Dental Implants
When it comes to the form and function of your teeth, we are here to evaluate all your options and develop the best cosmetic and prosthetic solution for you. For many of our patients with missing teeth, dental implants are the desired choice for restoring their complete smile. Our talented and experienced dental team at Peninsula Cosmetic & Family Dentistry can provide durable, natural-looking dental implant options to restore your smile at our clinic in Charleston, SC.
A dental implant is a “root” device, usually made of titanium, used in dentistry to support restorations that resemble a tooth or group of teeth. We use dental implants to support a number of dental prostheses, including crowns, implant-supported bridges or dentures. They can also be used as an anchor for orthodontic tooth movement. New Cone Beam and CEREC technology allow for predictable implant placement and same-day restorations. In all cases, the result is a beautiful set of teeth that serve their purpose for your life, health and happiness.

Single Tooth Implants
When you have a single missing tooth, dental implants are ideal for replacement. The implant post is placed near the socket of the lost tooth to provide the new “root” for the prosthetic tooth. Once the implant is secured, an abutment is attached to the top of the post, and a beautiful, white dental crown is secured to the abutment. Single tooth implants look and function like natural teeth for the ultimate option in tooth restoration.

Multiple Implants
For patients with multiple missing teeth, dental implants can be used to replace each individually with single tooth implants, or a dental bridge can be used. Multiple single implants will each have their own crown, but if there are two or more missing teeth together, a dental bridge may be a cost-effective option for replacement. Instead of single crowns, a dental bridge can be designed and created that is supported by implants.

Implant Prostheses
When a complete smile restoration is needed, dental implants can offer support for dentures. Implant fixed and removable prostheses use multiple implants on each arch to support the dentures and hold them in place. This is a more cost-effective option than replacing each tooth with an implant and a more functional, comfortable and natural-appearing solution than traditional dentures.
