snoring man and annoyed woman covering ears with pillow

November is a time when we turn our thoughts and hearts toward gratefulness. During the season of Thanksgiving we recount all of the things we’re thankful for and invite others in to our homes to celebrate this while sharing in a feast together. It’s a wonderful time of the year to be grateful.

Did you know that being grateful has scientifically proven benefits for you? It’s true! According to Amy Morin in an article written for Forbes, there are “7 Scientifically Proven Benefits Of Gratitude That Will Motivate You To Give Thanks Year-Round.”

  1. Gratitude open the door to more relationships
  2. Gratitude improves physical health
  3. Gratitude improves psychological health
  4. Gratitude enhances empathy and reduces aggression
  5. Grateful people sleep better
  6. Gratitude improves self-esteem
  7. Gratitude increases mental strength

If you experiences persistent sleepiness during the day, morning headaches, waking frequently throughout the night, difficulty concentrating and remembering or psychological problems such as depression or mood changes, you may have something called obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Another common sign of OSA is chronic, loud and ongoing snoring during the night. OSA can rob you of the benefits of a grateful heart if you struggle to get a good night’s sleep each night. Not only can OSA affect your ability to be grateful, but it can also increase your risk of high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, diabetes, sexual dysfunctions and severe weight gain.

Don’t let your Obstructive Sleep Apnea get in the way of your season of gratefulness. Contact Peninsular Cosmetic & Family Dentistry so we can discover which treatment option is right for you.

Dentistry should be as affordable as it is high-quality. At Peninsula Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, we firmly believe that the terms of a dental insurance plan (or lack thereof) should not dictate the quality of care our patients deserve.
