Dr. Gaines W. Hammond III
Dr. Gaines Hammond brings a passion for providing exceptional dental care, with a philosophy centered on treating patients with the same level of care he would offer his own family. A native of Spartanburg, SC, Dr. Hammond earned his undergraduate degree in Financial Management from Clemson University, followed by a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. After a career managing small businesses, he felt called to dentistry, sparking a transition that led to a Master of Science in Medical Sciences and a Doctorate in Dental Medicine (DMD) from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).
Dr. Hammond furthered his expertise by completing a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at MUSC. His experience spans a wide range of dental services, including adult and pediatric restorative care, implants, root canals, oral surgery, dental sleep medicine, and more. He is proficient in digital dentistry workflows such as Cerec (same-day crowns), 3D printing, and Invisalign. He is passionate about preventive care, particularly in promoting lifelong oral health and preventing periodontal disease.
Outside the office, Dr. Hammond enjoys spending time with his family, swimming, running, and staying active in the local Charleston community. He also remains committed to supporting local dental outreach programs, where he actively participated during his dental training.
Dr. Hammond is a member of St. Philip’s Church, the South Carolina Dental Association (SCDA), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD).
